Healthcare professionals taking part in this year’s Insulin Safety Week are being given exclusive access to attend an informative Trend Diabetes webinar.
Entitled ‘Insulin safety through the years’, the virtual event will explore how technological advancements have improved the way insulin is administered to people living with diabetes.
Additionally, the educational webinar will discuss the common risk factors that are associated with insulin.
Hosted by Trend Co-Chair and Independent Nurse Consultant – Diabetes, June James, the online meeting will be held on Thursday, May 5, between 12pm and 1pm.
June said: “On this 100th anniversary of the use of insulin, it is important to review just how care using this treatment has changed.
“Over the last century, there has been significant innovation in the type and action of different insulins and how insulin is delivered.”
She added: “With change, however, comes risks of insulin error. These are frequently related to the prescribing, preparation, and delivery of insulin therapy.”
At the end of the webinar, attendees will also be given the opportunity to ask live questions to June.
Debbie Hicks, Trend Co-Chair and Nurse Consultant – Diabetes, will be chairing the webinar, which will only be available for healthcare teams who have signed up for Insulin Safety Week 2022.
Insulin Safety Week 2022 aims to raise awareness of insulin safety in a bid to reduce insulin errors among healthcare professionals across the UK and Ireland.
